One of my favorite parts of the summer season is being able to reflect the refreshing colors of the outdoors in my wardrobe. I love being able to change a an entire ensemble by swapping the stark darks and whitest whites of winter for bright, fun colors! One of the hottest wearable colors for the Summer 2012 season is coral – the blurred line between pink and orange that shows up on heated cheeks and summer skylines.
Designers have been incorporating flirty coral into their Spring/Summer 2012 lines in exciting ways. The Alexander McQueen Spring Runway 2012 collection took a conceptual approach to the coral trend draping models in organic branches and webs seen here. These coral pumps by Alexander Mcqueen with sea shell embellishment are a much more wearable interpretation of the oceanic pieces. Coral has not been limited to just garments on the runway. Clinique’s Global Cover Artist, Jenna Menard, created a limited-edition coral lip color for the Karen Walker Spring/Summer 2012 runway.
So how do you take the untamed passion and inquisitive nature of the color coral and incorperate it into your summer ventures? Changing the color of an outfit is the same as changing an attitude. Same style, different message. The easiest way to add coral into your wardrobe is to replace items that would normally be tame, mute colors and amp them up with a pop of coral! Don’t be afraid to be bold this summer!
