Looks We Love // Our Top SS13 Runway Looks Translated to Fit Your Everyday Wardrobe
While we all drool over the spring 2013 collections as they come stomping down the runway in all their gorgeous glory, we dream of ways to wear these items in our everyday lives. Yes, we might all wish we had the opportunity to get totally glammed up on the daily, but for most of us, we must dress in a manner a little more adhered to our own realities. If you fantasize about wearing a Betsey Johnson princess dress to your internship every day, there is always a way to tweak these runway looks to fit your everyday attire. We picked five of our favorites from the spring 2013 collections to translate into work, play and everyday wardrobe options!
1) Marc Jacobs
While Marc Jacobs always provides a collection full of easily wearable options, head to toe stripes might be too reminiscent of Beetlejuice for most, we are still lusting after this three-quarter length striped jacket with matching pencil skirt and purse. If you want to try out bold black and white stripes why not pick up this button shoulder top from Forever 21, the black and white stripes are similar to those shown on the Marc Jacobs runway and paired with a black pencil skirt and matching blazer you have an outfit modeled after Marc’s.

2) Jason Wu
The minute we laid eyes on Jason Wu’s spring 2013 collection we were instantly obsessed. Filled with lace and leather throughout and with a theme of the forbidden, pieces from Wu’s collection might not be the best to wear on a day-to-day basis but we sure wish we could! We especially love this black lace cut-out bustier belted in the middle. To try this look out at home we recommended this mesh bustier from Nasty Gal. Pair this with high-waisted jeans to hide your tummy (we like this slim fit pair from Urban Outfitters) and a jacket — it’s the perfect look for a night out.

3) Betsey Johnson
A designer known for her wild factor, Betsey never disappoints when it comes to her runway shows — they are always one big party. Famous for her princess party dresses, you can be sure to see this staple Betsey piece every season. This short lace number lined with pink tulle is our favorite from this season and is what a little girl’s dreams are made of. To take this dress from childhood daydream to your current wardrobe, try this Pale Pink Posies Dress from ModCloth. The skirt is full without being poufy and the pale pink shade is easy to wear. Wear with some sparkly flats, modeled after the runway look and you have a toned down version of Betsey’s runway masterpiece.

4) Marchesa
Well known for their beautiful gowns and evening wear, Marchesa did not disappoint with their spring 2013 collection. Inspired by India and filled with beaded embellishments and lace, we simply wanted to dive in and drown in the beauty of the looks created by designers Keren Craig and Georgina Chapman this season. Our favorite look of the bunch was a white short lace frock, fitted on top and billowing out at the bottom. We love the way this mesh and crochet dress from H&M gives off the same pretty, feminine vibe as the Marchesa dress.

5) Thakoon
If there’s one thing Thakoon’s spring 2013 collection taught us its that prints are in, especially those of the nature variety. This opening look of the show, a dress resembling a birdcage, led to a collection filled with bird and floral printed pieces. Such a bold print like the one on this Thakoon dress might be a bit much for us, but that doesn’t mean we can’t find a way to translate it to fit your everyday wardrobe. We are crushing on this bird print dress from ModCloth, the high-low cut in sweet chiffon would be perfect paired with some brown ankle boots for fall.
