Cover Girls // Cover Girls: Olivia Palermo on Tatler Russia August 2012
Gracing the cover in the August issue of Tatler Russia, New York It-Girl Olivia Palermo shares with us a selection of must-have trendy items for this upcoming season. Photographed by Santiago Esteban in Madrid and styled by Nirave Sanchez, Palermo channels the “life of luxury” look in this editorial spread. Wearing jewelry by Carrera y Carrera, the current face of the jewelry brand’s Mediterraneo collection also dons a bright wardrobe including selections from Elie Saab, John Galliano, Marni, Paco Rabanne, Miu Miu, Giorgio Armani and many others.
Olivia Palermo is talented in her own right, mastering the art of mixing high-end designers with high-street purchases. She seamlessly and effortlessly merges Topshop and Valentino and tends to be self-styled, which makes us want everything in that closet of hers and investigate her fundamental shopping secrets that much more. She recently told InStyle.com, “Look for what you don’t have in your wardrobe and what you want, I like to browse online, but I also like to go into the stores and see the quality of it.” Also, she makes sure not to over-shop. “I don’t go out every day but when I walk upon a store and I see something cute I get it,” she said. “I shop throughout my travels, but I’m not always on a mission!”
Palermo appears flawless on the cover page in a beautiful embroidered top with silver studs from the Louis Vuitton Pre-Fall 2012 Collection. However, in the August spread of Tatler Russia, the 26-year-old fashionable starlet models a variety of designers, yet confesses in the interview her love for vintage jewelry and that when it comes to fashion, she is “always playing it safe.” Yet, her impeccable style refuses to go unnoticed and Tatler does a great job in highlighting the icon’s unique sense of style. To get a cover look like Palermo’s, do not be afraid to mix and match different seasonal trends from the past and colors from both designer and high-street stores.
One of our favorite looks in the issue, and what Palmero is mostly known as, is a look that emulates “the queen of polished perfection.” Santiago Esteban captures the American beauty on location in Madrid wearing the Louis Vuitton Pre-Fall 2012 top. Her short-sleeve blue top appears to have green embroidered details, but if you look at it close enough, you will discover that this is actually a print. The top is, however, embellished with gold studded details. As the face of Carrera y Carrera jewelry, she wears their stunning piece throughout her editorial spread. You can easily match the top, which is a good investment on its own with a variety of bottoms, from a pair of green Capri pants to a simple navy skirt. The most important advice is to let the focal point be the top and not allow the bottoms to distract you otherwise. Team it up with a simple green bag and a pair of cat-eye frames for a day look or a daring black clutch for the evening. Both complement the ensemble and provide a touch of both vintage and modern trend. Accompany that with a vibrant red lip and gorgeous black cat-eye makeup to complete the look.
The tailored look, balanced out by soft fabrics, bold colors and rich patterns, brings out the distinct style and ultra-feminine silhouette of Olivia Palmero. If you have the budget to splurge, you may purchase the entire ensemble directly from Louis Vuitton. However, if you’re unlucky like the most of us, do invest on the embellished top and purchase the remainder of the outfit from high-street stores.
