Blog Spotter // Blog Spotter: Chic N Rock

By

Amanda, the blogger behind Chic n Rock, is a New York City girl who effortlessly blends the edgy look of the city into her cool and casual Cali outfits. Her blog is a go-to for laid-back chic inspiration, from her rooftop outfit shots to her street style and instagram pics. She opts for platform sandals, flats, cut-offs and of course, sunglasses. She balances out thrift pieces with pieces from affordable stores, a style idea any girl on budget can get behind!

Meet Amanda!

Naturally, Amanda gets her style inspiration from California girls actress Rachel Bilson and actress/designer and bohemian chic sis duo, Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen. Bilson and the Olsens are the queens of casual chic in Hollywood and stand out in a crowd of over the top glamazons. Read on to find out where Amanda loves to shop and what pieces she can’t wait to get this fall!

CocoKouture: How would you define your personal style?
Amanda: Mostly eclectic – laid back chic with an edge… I select outfits depending on my mood and try to tie in my NY roots with my new LA vibe. I embrace The 3 C’s… casual, comfortable, and chic. I don’t want to look dolled up, and typically believe less is more. I love the whole effortlessly “thrown-together” look.

CK: You describe yourself as a New York City girl living in LA, how do you think that has influenced your style?
A: NYC is gritty, edgy and real. I like to think I bring that sense of style and attitude in everything I wear, while LA is casual, light and easy. Having both coasts in my heart allows me to showcase the best of both worlds.

CK: Who are your style icons?
A: Rachel Bilson & the Olsen Twins for sure… I love their grungy, bohemian style, and while I really have no idea how long they spend getting ready, their style seems effortless. Dumpster chic never looked so good!

CK: What are your fall must-haves?
A: A hot pair of metallic jeans, an oversized camo jacket, and cap toe heels. This will be my first Fall in Los Angeles, and although I will miss one of the nicest times of the year back East, I am not going to miss needing the extra layers!

CK: What are some of your favorite stores?
A: Wasteland (for all of my thrifted pieces), H&M, Urban Outfitters, & Forever 21.

CK: What’s your favorite fashion movie (like The Devil Wears Prada or The September Issue)?
A: The Devil Wears Prada is one of my all time faves (and not just because you suggested it haha). I must have seen this movie a dozen times. I love how a small town, fashionably awkward girl emerges as a very likable diva with a backbone. Talk about inspiration!

CK: Who are some of your favorite designers/brands?
A: While I can appreciate some of the top designers like Marc Jacobs and Rick Owens, I love the challenge of putting together cute outfits on a budget. Wasteland offers a vast selection of vintage and designer pieces which makes shopping there a pleasure even when my feet don’t agree.
