Fashion // Runway Review: Michael Kors Spring 2013 RTW
American fashion designer and Project Runway judge Michael Kors, showed his spring/summer 2013 RTW collection in Lincoln Center at NYFW. Kors hosted a preview of the collection just days before the actual show at his studio. Many celebrity front row guests were in attendance, including Camilla Belle, Katherine McPhee, Olivia Munn, Catherine Zeta-Jones, and Marisa Tomei.

The collection was inspired by geometry and was cleverly titled “geometric glamour.” We have continued to see prints as a major trend for spring/summer 2013. In Kors’ collection geometric stripes are majorly played up as they are carried throughout most of the line up.
Michael Kors is well known for classic sportswear when it comes to his design aesthetic. This collection was the very definition of classic, sleek, and polished Americana fashion. The line up consisted of bold primary colors, 60’s mod inspired cuts, an array of A-line skirts, trench dresses, color-blocking, khaki skinny pants, exposed zippers, wide belts and accessories with hints of metallic metals. The end of the show featured black floor length dresses with geometric cutouts, which were nice but didn’t catch our attention as much as the rest of the collection.
In demand models Karlie Kloss and Lindsey Wixson hit the catwalk, with slicked back, side-parted hair with invisible ponytails. Kors kept the model’s faces clean with only a subtle swipe of blue eye makeup.
If we had to grade Michael Kors on his geometric capabilities we’d give him an A+. What did you think of his s/s collection? Are you going to be embracing stripes and geometry in your wardrobe?
