Fashion // Runway Review: Lela Rose Spring 2013 RTW
Think fresh, dynamic and intermittent. Viola! You have the Spring 2013 Ready to Wear collection from the Parson’s School of Design graduate, Lela Rose. Designer of wedding, bridesmaid, resort and ready to wear apparel, Lela Rose defines a contemporary variety of elegance yet again.
There’s no doubt Rose is ready to break out her playful pieces to mix and match this upcoming Spring, by the looks of her collection. Models in fruity colors of orange, lemon, grapefruit and blueberry strutted down the aisle during the first half of Rose’s collection. As if these color’s aren’t eccentric enough, Rose entwines sporadic patterns of camouflage, plaid, snakeskin and paint-like strokes upon many of these looks. We found this aspect of the collection exciting, and it certainly kept us on our toes.
As the second half of Rose’s collection was unveiled, we gradually noticed the plethora of vibrant colors and patterns dismissed, and then we witnessed the designs transform into more formal, elegant creations. But let us not forget those luscious handcrafted details that get us every time. Lace, silver chains, sequins and florals sewn intact upon creamy shades of lilac, gray, beige and champagne then processed before us. Filling the room with an aura of grace, this second half of the collection included a handful of cocktail dresses and a pinch of gowns, each embellished with at least one specific detail.
Our absolute favorite piece of this collection is Look 26. Fabulous, feminine, flowery. This beautiful dress encompasses themes we recognized throughout the entire collection: elegance, detail and color. Encompassing a nude canvas that compliments every skin tone and a watercolor print of dreamy flowers, this dress has us in love.
