Fashion // Runway Review: Donna Karan Spring 2013 RTW

By

Sunrise, Sunset was the title of Donna Karan’s Spring Collection and the name could not be more fitting. This collection was “inspired by the awe of coming into the city, light reflected on building and glass. The atmosphere of a shifting, dappling sun and sky. The bigger than life elements of the beach–water, sand rocks, the volumen of clouds…a collection to reflect a woman’s sensual nature with urban modernity and ease.” Serenity and peace were a main focus of this collection.

The dresses were designed in a very muted, relaxed palette; including grey, beige, blue and pink. This collection was very classic and could be worn by just about any woman. The draping and mixture of elements in the garments was perfect. Each dress had its own unique shape and personality. To complete the collection Donna Karan used headbands and cuff bracelets as accessories. Her focus on the serenity of the city was a breath of fresh air, and really was portrayed through her designs. Overall this collection was very impressive and a fashionista’s favorite. Missed out on seeing her collection? Check out the full collection here!
