Fashion // Runway Review: Alexis Mabille Fall 2012 Couture
Alexis Mabille‘s Fall 2012 Couture show defined ‘Haute Couture’. The show left a sparkle in the audiences’ eyes at the Shangri-La Hotel. Alexis stated he was “imagining women as jewels” and that is the perfect explanation of the collection. Show-stopping would be a perfect way to describe it as well. One of the pieces even had over 600 Swarovski buttons applied to it! Jewel toned fabric, sparkle and shine, lace embellishments and shades of onyx, deep emerald, silver and gold graced the runway. The collection was made of beautiful creations such as black and red crepe gowns with flowing capes and cowl backs.

From the crystals hanging on the model’s hair to the bow finishings, details on the garments and models made the show extraordinary. There was also a great variety of silhouettes and fabrics used.

Jewels, old hollywood-esc vibes, and glamour made the collection everything a Couture show should be. “At their best, they were a high-camp version of the knockdown glamour of Hollywood stars like Dolores del Rio and Bette Davis.” – Women’s Wear Daily
