Brand Spotter // Brand Spotter: Mondrina
Looking for that perfect summer bag? Try out Mondrina, a handbag line started by Monica Frisbie that we are absolutely obsessed with.

Monica was inspired to create Mondrina by her life experiences and travels. Fashion had always been a large part of Monica’s life. She grew up in Long Island, New York and spent time sewing and creating her own looks. She graduated from the Accessories Design Program at Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT). While at FIT, she excelled and went on to working under famous designers such as Ralph Lauren and Darby Scott. After gaining experience, Monica moved to Lima, Peru, and started her business. Mondrina was introduced in 2010, and Monica spends time working on it in both Sag Harbor, New York and at her flagship store in Peru.

Mondrina means a modern style point of view, this is definitely displayed through Monica’s handbags. They have an ethnic, ancient feel to them but at the same time are urban and modern. Fabrics featured in her handbags include alpaca, exotic leathers, and feathers. The hand stitched detailing is a signature sign of the Mondrina brand. Monica’s inspiration is taken from her two residences; they both have a different culture, flavor and feel. “I like to think my designs mimic the contrasting aspects of our unique lifestyle; modern shapes for the discerning, multi-tasking New Yorker made with materials by native Peruvian artisans, practicing their age-old handcraft.”
Mondrina bags can be purchased from online stores such as Gloria Jewel, Handbago, or from the official Mondrina website. Lucky for us Mondrina also has more than 10 retail locations in a variety of areas including New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and California. Make sure to check out Mondrina’s designs in time for summer. These handbags come in a variety of styles and are the perfect combination of earthy and chic.
“When I think of the Mondrina girl I picture a confident, free spirited woman reveling in her nomadic lifestyle; embracing a world off the beaten path.”- Monica Frisbie
